NOMINATION FORM

The Te Whetū Hou (Future Physeder) award recognises a tertiary student preparing to enter the profession. They will have shown significant promise and commitment to furthering their knowledge of Physical Education.

Eligibility Criteria:
  1. Open to any individual.
  2. Must be a current student enrolled in a tertiary-level qualification, in a New Zealand institution, related to physical education, sport science, health education, or a similar discipline, with plans to enter the physical education profession.
  3. Can be nominated by any individual or organisation.
Award Criteria:
  1. The nominee should have achieved a high academic standard in their studies, reflecting a strong understanding of PE theory, pedagogy, and/or practical applications.

  2. Evidence of the nominee’s commitment to furthering their knowledge in physical education, such as attendance at workshops, conferences, or involvement in research projects that enhance their understanding of PE and the teaching profession.

  3. The nominee should have completed relevant field placements, volunteer work, or other practical experiences that have allowed them to apply their skills in real-world settings and engage with communities in PE-related contexts.

  4. The nominee should demonstrate potential for leadership or advocacy within the PE field, exemplified by contributions to university or community projects, mentoring peers, or active involvement in initiatives promoting physical activity and health.

Additional Requirements:
  • The nomination must be endorsed by a faculty member, mentor, or field placement supervisor who can attest to their dedication, knowledge, and promise as a future professional in the field of physical education. Additional endorsements from peers or community members are encouraged but not required.
