The Te Takurua (PE Educator for More Than 5 Years) award recognises a teacher, who has been teaching for more than 5 years and that has made a significant contribution to the Physical Education of tamariki and rangatahi.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to any individual with more than 5 years teaching experience.
- Must be a registered teacher, with a current practising certificate (either full or provisional).
- Must be currently employed by a licensed or certified early learning service or kōhanga reo; or a registered primary, intermediate, secondary or area school, kura or wharekura.
- Can be nominated by any individual or organisation.
Award Criteria:
- The nominee’s physical education teaching has a positive impact on those around them, in terms of setting alight a physical education space, is innovative, leads change, and is creative.
- The quality of the nominee’s physical education teaching is of a high standard and demonstrates a high level of reflection and diligence.
- The nominee’s physical education teaching contribution has a positive impact on the individuals and/ or communities that they work with.
