Phase 5 Draft Curriculum Consultation

Physical Education in Years 11-13

Consultation Closes: 8 July 2026

Phase 5 Physical Education Curriculum Materials Released.

The Ministry of Education has released the second tranche of Phase 5 curriculum materials, including the proposed Years 11–13 Physical Education curriculum content.

This release provides an important opportunity for kaiako, leaders, academics, and sector partners to engage with the direction of senior Physical Education ahead of implementation in 2028.

PENZ encourages all members to take the time to explore the materials, reflect on what they mean for teaching and learning, and share feedback as part of the consultation process.

We know this mahi will create important conversations across our sector, and PENZ will support members through a series of upcoming webinars designed to unpack the proposed curriculum, discuss key changes, and provide space for kōrero.
